Model United Nations Conference was organised at Rabindranath World School on 16th and 17th September, 2021 adhering to Covid-19 protocols and the safety guidelines. The Vice-Chairman, Mr. Gaurav Tomar, the Director, Mrs. Munmun Banerjee, and the Principal, Mrs. Poonam Grover graced the occasion with their benign presence. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp with the enchantment of the shlokas invoked the spirit of the day. The conference was attended by over 80 students from Classes 9 to 12. The young delegates representing different countries enthusiastically presented their arguments on topics of global significance. The thought-provoking ideas that were discussed included ‘Stabilising the situation in Afghanistan after the takeover of Taliban’ and ‘Extreme weather events like floods, wildfires, cyclones and droughts.’ The students learnt more about the various dimensions involved in political diplomacy and international relations. They also got an opportunity to brainstorm and suggest ways to resolve the issues. Students had a wonderful time debating, socializing, and discussing issues of national and international significance. The two days’ rich experience culminated with the closing ceremony. The Principal appreciated the efforts and active participation of MUNites and gave trophies and certificates to the outstanding delegates.
