Rabindranath Jayanti

Rabindranath World School, DLF –III, Gurgaon celebrated Rabindranath Jayanti on Friday,08th May,2015. The Birth Anniversary celebration of Gurudev  Rabindranath Tagore commenced by the Chairman, Principal and Vice Principal paying floral tributes on the portrait of the noble laureate. Speeches in Hindi and English were given by students elucidating anecdotes from Tagore’s life, works and achievements. His multitalented personality and creative works were highlighted upon. Primary students rendered a melodious Bangla song whereas students of middle level performed a folk dance from Bengal. His poem “Beggarly love..” was recited. The icing on the cake was a short song rendered by a Nursery child.

The Chairman, Wg. Cdr. Y S Tomar, praised the students for their performances and asked them to follow the teachings of Rabindranath Tagore. The Principal, Dr. Kiran R Banerji, quoted a few lines from Tagore’s work applicable to students even today.

The function ended with rendition of the peppy school song.

    “Self Defence” Workshop

    Rabindranath World School, Gurgaon organised a “Self Defence” demonstration on Monday, 27th April, 2015 in the school. Ms Veena Gupta , the Founder and CMD of Seam Group of companies and the President of the NGO called WESS (Women Empowerment, Safety and Security Foundation, conducted a very educative demonstration explaining to boys and girls the different situations that can take them unawares. An expert at self defence and security, she tackled situations from bag/chain snatching, eve teasing to kidnapping etc. Girls and boys were explained the various ways they can save themselves from such instances.

    The students followed her instructions with rapt attention and happily volunteered for demonstration of techniques.

    The Principal, Dr. Kiran R Banerji, while thanking Veena Gupta for such an important educative session, also requested her to conduct few more sessions during the year.

          Academic Awards 2014-15

          Rabindranath World School, DLF City-III, Gurgaon organised the much awaited Prize giving function for academic awards 2014-15 on 06th May,2015. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp and a prayer to invoke the blessings of goddess Saraswati. This was followed by the school song.

          Awards were given for academic excellence from Pre-Primary classes to class XI. All Rounder award was also given at each level to a student excelling in academics as well as extracurricular activities and sports. The parents of award winners were called on stage and requested to give the trophy to their child. Appreciation letters were also given to students for hundred percent attendance, showing exemplary conduct or remarkable improvement at academics.

          Gold and Silver medals were also awarded to participants of the Tennis matches held at class levels.

          The Principal congratulated all prize winners and their parents for their achievement. She complimented the staff for guiding the students on the right path. She advised all students not to be discouraged on not getting an award this year and continue working hard as each child is born with a talent and will eventually be a winner!
